Vivid Landscapes

My landscape paintings are usually much more vivid than the reference images I use when I paint.  When I'm outside, on a hike or camping out in the woods any photograph I take I'm looking at as if it were already a painting.  I see brush strokes and bright colors and am often half way through my imaginary painting long before I sit in front of the blank canvas.  My style is evolving the more I work, but my love and appreciation for the landscape is always the root of what I do.  More recently I've been venturing into altering the skies, weather and lighting.  It adds a completely different mood to the piece!
